Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire, in their never-ending quest to pivot from conservative media outlet to Hollywood production company, have a new movie on the way this fall.

And if you thought Uwe Boll’s Citizen Vigilante was too timid, not racist enough, and that its leading man wasn’t accused of bad enough crimes, I give you Run Hide Fight: Infidels.

The film, a sequel to the Daily Wire’s 2020 school-shooting drama Run Hide Fight, stars disgraced former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors and is based on a right-wing fever-dream version of the pro-Palestinian encampments that appeared on college campuses in 2024. Per the IMDB synopsis:

When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment, a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers and keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil.

First of all, I remember the encampments, and I had various opinions about them, but nothing within a mile of what happens in the movie ever took place in real life. They were not, at any college anywhere in America, used to stage ISIS-style terrorist attacks.

Second of all, this is the movie in which there was an on-set accident involving Majors and another actor falling through glass, leading the crew to walk off the set in protest of the safety conditions. Plus, the film’s special effects supervisor reportedly “pled guilty to illegal possession of explosives on a movie set.” The film’s producer, Dallas Sonnier — who’s got something of a problematic record of his own — shared this charming quote:

“We are too busy being bad asses, blowing shit up, flying helicopters, and killing movie terrorists to concern ourselves with four assholes with signs on the sidewalk and their illegitimate ‘strike.’”

But then came this laughable quote from Ben Shapiro that came along with the release of the trailer:

The threat of radical Islam is real. Hollywood has refused to tell that story for three decades. Now, we’re saying the thing with the biggest, most audacious, funniest and most kickass film Daily Wire has ever released. Here’s the trailer.

If you think Hollywood has ever refrained from depicting terrorists as radical or Islamic, you probably didn’t pay a ton of attention to the cinema or television of the post-9/11 era.
