The Money Ritual: Start Here
If you landed here, something brought you.
Maybe you’re tired of financial content that talks at you instead of with you. Maybe you’ve been searching for someone who takes money seriously without making you feel like a failure for not having it figured out. Maybe you just stumbled in and something felt different enough to make you stay.
Whatever it was — I’m glad you’re here.
Here’s what this is.
The Money Ritual is where I think out loud about money, business, and what it actually takes to feel steady as a solopreneur.
Not steady like nothing ever goes wrong. Steady like you know where you stand, you trust yourself to make decisions, and you’re not white-knuckling it through every revenue dip or slow month.
I’m Stacy Luft. I’ve spent more than 30 years inside the financial reality of real businesses — not in theory, not in a spreadsheet template, but in the actual rooms where the numbers tell the truth. I’m also a lecturer at Hofstra University, where I teach foundational bookkeeping to practitioners who are entering the profession.
I say that not to impress you, but because I want you to know: I have seen what financial clarity actually looks like when it’s working, and I have seen what it costs when it isn’t. I know the difference. And I know most financial content out there isn’t teaching it.
That’s why this exists.
Here’s what I believe.
Financial clarity is a practice, not a performance.
It’s not about having the perfect system or never making a mistake. It’s about being in an honest, ongoing relationship with your numbers so your decisions are truly yours — not driven by fear, avoidance, or what you think you’re supposed to do.
I also believe this: most solopreneurs aren’t struggling because they’re bad at business. They’re struggling because nobody ever taught them the language. The tools teach the arithmetic. Someone has to teach the language.
That’s what I do here.
One more thing worth saying clearly: this is not personal finance advice, and it is not a seven-figure overnight promise. If you're looking for someone to tell you to cut your lattes or sell harder, I'm not your person. What I teach is the financial infrastructure of a real, sustainable business — built at your pace, on your terms, without the performance.
Here’s what you’ll find.
The Money Ritual publishes every two weeks. Some issues are warm and teaching-focused — walking through a concept, reframing a belief, showing you what financial clarity actually looks like in practice. Others are more direct. I have a point of view, and I’m done keeping it quiet.
Between issues, I post Notes — shorter observations, real moments from client work, things I’m sitting with. Those are where I’m most unfiltered.
I won’t publish on a perfect schedule. I’ll publish when I have something real to say. What I won’t do is fill your inbox with noise just to stay visible.
If you’re new here, start with this.
Before you do anything else, take the Money Relationship Assessment. Eight questions, no judgment, about three minutes. It’ll tell you your money archetype — the pattern that’s shaping how you relate to your finances right now — and give you a clear next step based on where you actually are.
If you want ongoing support — community, monthly workshops, a calm space to build real money systems — that’s what Journey Pathway is for.
Welcome to The Money Ritual.
You’re not behind. You’re just getting oriented.
— Stacy
