A question to ponder:

Do you have something in your life that is a direct line to your soul? Something that you can rely on, that never fails you?

I’m here to remind you to dip into your own jar of living water. That is your well to draw on for life force.

I don’t know about you, but I make things way too hard. AND just when I think I’ve got the answer, some ridiculous voice from some neglected part of myself says “wait, but are you sure? There must be something else. Something better, than this idea, right here.” Even though this idea, the one in the title, is my cork.

Your cork is the thing in your life that keeps coming to the surface of your consciousness but you keep pushing it down. But then it pops up again and again until you give it the attention it deserves.

I’ve used the practice of writing for over 20 years. And it has never wained. It remains true and solid and safe and honest and scary, all at once. It is the line to my soul’s voice.

So why do I doubt it? Human nature, doubting your soul’s voice is doubting yourself. And how many of us do that?

I’ve used the practice of writing to process loss, figure out complex emotions, channel a trilogy, and create an oracle deck. It’s pretty safe to say this is my shtick.

I invite you to give writing a try. What kind of writing? That is for you to decide. What resonates with you? Everyone has a story. YOU have a story. How do you want to tell it?

  • Daily Journal

  • Substack posting

  • Full length memoir

  • Fiction writing (full length or short story or both)

  • Visual storytelling

These are all ways to use your hands to connect to your heart which is where your soul sits.

You aren’t just one story. One leads to another. Who you were at ten, at twenty, at fifty, isn’t who you are now. We are all evolving.

I could say the world needs your stories but YOU need your stories more than anyone else. Writing for yourself fills you up with the big YOU. It is pure magic. You will be amazed at what you can create.

I’m not saying its easy. Struggling to write IS writing. But the struggle toughens the mind (thank you Tim Denning). So often I avoid it because I know of the work involved. It can be exhausting, depleting. Someone once said they die a little each time they created a work of art. I can understand that. You give a piece of yourself you will never get back. But you gain something greater in return. You gain connection to the vastness of your own being. You connect to the unlimited supply of creative ore that is God, the Universe, Spirit, Divine Mother.

Writers are often mad (in the crazy sense) because they dive so deep they can get lost in the depths of the human heart. It is bottomless and boundless. It is gut wrenching and beautiful. It can be very easy to spiral down into the existential crisis of the human experience. So we need boundaries.

Don’t you think it’s time to turn away from the mess and the polarity of the on-line world and find the only safe place there truly is? The interior of your own being? Your heart, your soul, your divinity? Are we done with the drama and the pettiness? It dies when we stop giving it attention.

The practice of writing is sacred.

And I honor the gift and the connection and the Universal Spirit that flows through me when I open to the vast potential that writing connects me to. I am so grateful this practice found me. So that is what I want to share with you.

What kind of writing has continued to rise to the surface of your attention time and time again? Is it time to listen? And respond?
