June 15th, the third installment of the ALONE TOGETHER series is here! As always, the hardcover acts as the special edition and comes with some additional short stories included in the back pages.
“This is probably the most intense, graphic, disturbing, heart wrenching book yet in the series.” - One Eyed Monster
“It moves along at a good pace, doesn’t bog down, and has plenty of intrigue and action.” - Jan Miklaszewicz
“These particular war-like parts Fitzgerald nails like nobody I have ever seen. He makes someone like me who has no experience with such things feel it.” - Julie Hutchings (author of The Harpy)
If you missed my recent podcasts with The Bearded Book Beast or Bald & Balding, then you may have missed my plans for the series. The Alone Together series is set to be 12 books. That’s a big undertaking, not just for me as the writer, but for you the reader. With that in mind, I’ve divided the series into seasons, similar to the way television shows are broken apart. I am breaking the series into three four-part seasons. That means as a reader, you’ll get a full season once book 4 releases and then know the next season will have a larger escalation. Not only will this make it easier to consume, mentally, it’ll prepare you for the transitions in themes and challenges with every fourth book being a finale.
“Every day they saw suburbs like this. Days of abandoned streets, empty buildings. A hollow song to the lives they once lived.” - Alone Together: Hostiles
You will get a double feature this month!
First up is my interview with Noah Ray, a Fantasy author crafting a story piece-by-piece which you can find now on his website!
Noah Ray has been writing and telling stories for his own entertainment for more years than he can count. He has fond memories of making up tales he would tell his little brother before bed. He currently resides in the Northwest United States with his wife and children. Allegedly, he spends too much time playing games and lost in thought, but nothing has been proven in a court of law regarding that matter.
While Noah is not a religious author, no biographical summery would be complete without making note that he is a Christian and credits God with inspiring anything good he has made.
That’s right, you’ll get a double feature this month! 6/13/2026 just before Alone Together: Hostiles drops, I am talking with the one, the only, the Queen of Horror, Molly Macabre! Molly is the brains behind not just the Dark Veil Society, but she’s also the author behind the Songs of the Tangled Elegies series which has a lot in common with Alone Together.

May 7 the family and I headed down to Tampa. Before we hit the convention, we stopped at Dino World where we got to see the 2nd most complete T-Rex skull along with some amazing animatronics. Then it was off to the main event. I’m happy to report we have a lot of new survivors among the ranks! My daughter even got the opportunity to meet Frankenstein and several vampires.
Just some thoughts from recent developments. This is nothing but food for thought.
Keeping secrets is a deeply human behavior with both benefits and costs, depending on the context in which it is held. But I want to point out something that often puts people in a bind.
Relationship preservation often forms in shielding others from distress or conflict. A shared secret can protect people from harm or distress. Either physical or emotional. When a moment is shared, it is critical you maintain that secrecy for the preservation of your relationship and the others that may be tied to that secret. It is on you to preserve that relationship.
It shouldn’t be a surprise if this is violated, especially if you have a habit of such behavior, when people decide to distance themselves from you.
People may forget your words or actions, but they will always remember the emotions you interjected into their lives.
Darkness has a new style, and I have my own collection! You can see the entire Dark Veil Society’s lineup and feel good about your purchase because parts of our proceeds go to supporting Walpurgis Words for Literacy!
The Crafty Bookstore and I are partnering to provide our readers a better experience in book shopping. All future titles will be available in both signed and unsigned editions!
Walpurgis Words for Literacy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in Ohio and founded by a collective of indie horror and dark fantasy authors from around the world united under The Dark Veil Society. We believe that literacy is transformative, and that the darkest, most imaginative stories often come from the youngest voices.
Our mission is to support high school students as readers and writers. Through our annual Halloween Horror Flash Fiction Student Contest, school and library book donation program, and author mentorship initiatives, we provide the resources and recognition that young authors deserve. Our annual fundraising drive runs from April 1st through Walpurgis Night—because we believe in the power of stories, told in the dark.
Support the future readers and writers today.
