(Fantasy, LGBT+, Action) A story about atonement in a caged kingdom, where not all is what it seems. Updates Tuesdays. The magical kingdom of Aeolia is threatened regularly by Dark Lords: evil sorcerers that bring destruction upon the isolated floating islands. The latest evildoer – the king’s twin brother – endured the battles against the Great Heroes Elise, Veriesin, Audrey and Stormsever with ease, until he made a grave mistake and turned himself in, out of sorrow. Because of his uncanny…
I realized far too late that I put in the break announcement on the last page's transcript instead of the author notes; so the missing page this week isn't just you! I needed to take an emergency break this month because I had two events in another city and a LOT of early morning medical appointments that took the last gasps of my buffer. We'll be back September 1st (or aug 25th for spiderforest)!
Veriesin pulls back while the whip reassembles itself, and laughs while boasting, "Still vulnerable to--" Before she can finish the sentence, however, her curse forces her into the form of a lioness, and she swears instead. In the meantime, Live Steam's damaged leg was positioned in her direction. As she says "Could've used more time on that...!", the robot has an opening to kick her with it,…
Live Steam says, "RETALIATION." as its mechanisms whirr and it opens its mouth, firing a stream of scalding hot water. Veriesin jumps to the side just in time, and using the momentum from her sidestep, prepares her whip and then throws the tip at full strength against Live Steam's leg casing, cracking it.
The wind rushes back to the confrontation between Veriesin and the giant robot Live Steam. As it emits crackles and hisses, the magical smoke around it disappears, and it starts to look around. "SUMMONER ORDERS RECIEVED." Its voice booms. "SEARCHING FOR: BLACK MAGIC - TALL - SORCERER." Veriesin faces it with a defiant "Long time no see.", prompting it to look down and directly at her.
Mortimer, terrified keeps the barrier spell up, and Spinel goes up to him to say, "Come on dad, we can--" Mortimer immediately interrupts him, however, and says "No, I mean it, you're in danger." and Spinelthorn replies, "If you're this worried... Can't we sneak up on them?" From behind them, Fangs gives the answer: "Not with only one invisibility potion. I never have enough when I need them..."…
The new Dark Lord used a barrage of curve-shaped spells that sliced through grass and rock on their path towards the group. Mortimer dodged the first spell, but seeing the others barely avoid the second, he decided to instead run towards them and activate a shield spell against the third. The third spell hit the shield with great strength, pushing against it for a good while before dissipating,…
The camera pans away from the back of the temple where Veriesin prepares to fight the robot boar, and into the forest where the rest of the team ran into. As they traverse an area where the trees are more sparse, the hand of Dark Lord Nycticorax can be seen, ready to fire a spell at them.
As the title card for the chapter appears, the robotic boar can be seen in full, and the scene slowly transitions from a grayed-out flashback with Elise prepared to fight, to the colorful current moment of Veriesin facing the robot alone. The title reads: "Splitting Image Chapter 4: Bulky Boar-Shaped Boiler - Live Steam"
Snapping his fingers, Dark Lord Mortallon ordered the metal beast to move, and it stared towards the women with its caged lamp-like eyes. From many openings, more smoke came out, and lights on the inside indicated it was getting hotter. The Dark Lord yelled out, "It combines coal, water and fire into power for spells, at a speed you can’t even comprehend! A shining beast (possibly) clad in armor!…
Veriesin raised her magical whip and said, "Run away, your Majesty!", as she quickly created a spell. A wall of green crystals blocked the path between the king and the enemies, including the metal beast, still reeling from the previous attack. From the little space he could see them, King Dylan replied, "A million thanks, knight!" As the Dark Lord's minions tried to break the crystal to get…
Elise put her foot down, and the electric magic dissipated from the sword. Framed by the sun, she struck a pose and said, "The legendary hero from the land of light, Elise Sabrenchant! Here to end your plan!" Behind her, Veriesin had finally climbed up the hill, exhausted, and replied, "You didn't tell me that before! In any way..."
Elise launched herself into the air with electricity, sword held high, and yelled out "Plasma Fissure!" as she slashed the air with it. The sword threw its electric magic charge in front of her, and struck one of the legs of the metal creature behind Dark Lord Mortallon. Parts of it were broken, melted and launched away because of the electricity, and the metal creature groaned in surprise. In…
Dark Lord Mortallon continues his threats as his metal beast approaches from behind, covering the area in mist. "It's a shame... None of you know of the crown's true power. But once it's in capable hands, I, Mortallon, will change the world! This is your last chance, Thunderbolt King." Unknown to him, Elise is running towards the group.
Elise gives a look at her sword, thinking about something. Then, Veriesin points to the cliff with a crowd and noise, and yells, "They're up there!" Elise then touches the lightning symbol on her sword, saying, "Got it.". When she touches it, the sword is releases sparks and yellow magic, and Elise dashes past the elf, using the magic to climb the cliff in seconds. Meanwhile, on top of it, a giant…
Huffing, Elise and Veriesin crossed the destroyed gates of the royal palace, passing through dozens of soldiers immobilized by black magic crystals. While running up the path, Veriesin takes time to exasperately say: "This is unreasonable! You're unreasonable. And I'm going to lose my job on the first day!" Calmly, Elise replied, "As an elf, you heard where the beast went, yes? Then I insist. The…
