When people ask me what I love most about living in Barcelona, I usually start with the obvious things: the light, the pace of life, the proximity to the sea. But the real answer is architecture.
There are very few places in the world where great design feels so woven into everyday life. In Barcelona, architecture isn’t something you seek out—it finds you. A morning coffee can take you past a Modernista masterpiece. A quick train ride can lead to one of the most important Modernist homes ever built. Even after spending years visiting design destinations around the world, I still find myself discovering new details here.
The homes and spaces below aren’t necessarily the most famous in Catalonia. They’re the ones I return to mentally long after I’ve left. Together, they tell the story of a region that has continually reinvented what architecture can be while remaining deeply connected to landscape, craftsmanship, and everyday living. They’re also places that reflect many of the things I find myself drawn to most: layered materials, a strong connection between indoors and outdoors, thoughtful use of light, and architecture that feels human rather than monumental.
