Dropping in your inbox with something a little different today. I recently did a collaboration with Everything Jazz to help promote their free online jazz course.
Writing a Substack post about it wasn’t part of the deal but the course is genuinely really good and I’ve learnt loads from it so I wanted to let you all know about it.
The course takes you from the roots of jazz right up the 21st century and gives you essential listening along the way (The Classic Eras is my favourite section).
I know that an online jazz course sounds pretty prehistoric but it’s been a really welcome way to unplug from algorithms and develop a deeper understanding of the genre I love so very much.
You’ll know your bebops from your hard-bops and post-bops in no time and you’ll probably learn alot about your taste in music by the end of it - I certainly did and it’s been really interesting joining the dots from many of my favourite contemporary Jazz releases and those that paved the way for them.
