The world won’t be the same ever again... I am crying as I try to write this... I am heartbroken over the loss of Dolly Parton.

Some artists entertain us, and some somehow become part of the landscape of our lives. Dolly was one of those rare people who felt as though she had always been there... her voice, her songs, her humor, her kindness, her unmistakable light. Dolly’s light was something you could count on in the world.

As a singer, I have spent my life loving great songs and the people who know how to tell the truth through them. Dolly was one of the greatest. Beneath all the rhinestones and laughter was an extraordinary songwriter with a profound understanding of love, heartbreak, poverty, longing, faith and the complicated human heart.

It is difficult to imagine an America without Dolly Parton in it.

Tonight the world feels a little less warm, a little less funny, and a whole lot less sparkly.

Godspeed, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the laughter, the generosity and the enormous heart you shared with all of us. You were truly one of a kind.
