The trusty travel companion
I recently became a victim of theft, my first such experience in 20 years of travel. My travel bag was stolen. More than the contents, I was sad about losing the bag itself. The bag is made by Hinomoto Hanpu, a Japanese canvas bag maker with a couple of small shops around Japan.

This bag has accompanied me on most of my travels over the last eight years. I like its subtle design and how it avoids an abundance of pockets. Its best feature, for me, is how it stands upright on its base even when empty.

The bag’s badge even appeared in promotional material for one of our events.

Another nice touch is a card featuring the bag maker’s signature.
