If you’re in Los Angeles this weekend, I will be popping up in Highland Park at my friend Candi’s tattoo shop. I’ll be selling my wares, including lots of old and new ceramic objects, tarot decks and books, and t-shirts. New ceramics that don’t sell there will go online next week. One of my final papers for a trauma class this semester is on self-care, so it got me looking back onto my own previous words about the subject. My Healing & Self-Help book is out of print for the moment, but you can still get a digital version. I’m sharing part of the introduction here, as it is helpful to revisit some foundational ideas about self-care and what it can really do for us on a more abstract or conceptual level. I wrote this years before beginning therapy school, but I’m finding all of these reflected in what I’m learning. July can be a hectic month, so hopefully some of these ideas can help you to slow down and tune into what’s going on inside.
