There is a new moon in Gemini, the sun and moon together in the sign of quick and alert sensory activation. Gemini is light bulb on, electric, quick-change energy. Ideas are picked up and dropped easily, without nostalgia or regret. In Gemini season, the importance of words ramps up. The rate of activity speeds up, curiosity is piqued, and things may feel hectic. You may become more aware of your awareness, and can use this meta-awareness to activate things that have felt stagnant for you, or re-connect with things that have become boring. How can you spice up your routine a bit? And at the same time, how can you manage anxiety, as Gemini’s excitement can quickly turn to a sense of urgency. Gemini is so in the now, in the moment. Wherever Gemini is in your chart can point the way towards what can suddenly change and where a switch can be flipped so that you can operate in a totally new and fresh way. Lose the self-consciousness, which yearns for simple and easy, and step into the buzz of complexity.

During this new moon, Jupiter in Cancer is conjunct Venus in Leo. Joy is at the forefront. You know when things start to feel stale, but you keep pressing on, even though the spark isn’t there? The magic of your engagement with the world is slowly diminishing, but you’re not sure how to re-ignite yourself. Maybe there’s a lot of self-consciousness, the kind of pressurized self-awareness where every gesture feels awkward and every word sounds weird, even when it’s not. Maybe there’s simply exhaustion, which is understandable. The cosmos has been going through a kind of ill-fitting wormhole, and now as we hit the halfway point of the year, we might look back at the beginning of the year from where we are now, and think, wow, why was I operating the way I was? The energy has really changed, and this middle part of the year, the sweet summer, is more open and optimistic than the earlier part of the year. Earlier, we were trying on different outfits and none of them fit, none of them felt right.

Uranus moving into Gemini, and now Jupiter conjunct Venus, opens up possibilities that just weren’t viable earlier. We were too busy wrestling with our own identity to engage outwardly in a juicy, meaty way. But now, the cosmos is facing us outward instead of inward. Venus in Leo is pushing us to be seen, to be more visible, witnessed in our joy. In two weeks, Jupiter will move into Leo, so use this new moon as a preview of what might soon get amplified for you around being seen in a new way.

Use this Venus/Leo-assisted Gemini new moon to:

  • Lift yourself up out of any heavy, cobwebby, out-dated beliefs about yourself. Drop one emotional burden that you’re carrying and see if you survive.

  • Look realistically at what you’re taking on in life and whether your attention is too scattered. Time & energy management may be key now.

  • Try doing something that feels a little bit more visible that you’re comfortable with and see if it turns out okay. Maybe we all want to see a bit more of each other?
