Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st, 2026

There is a full moon in Sagittarius, with the sun sitting opposite in Gemini, conjunct to Uranus, newly wreaking havoc in Gemini. And, while not exactly conjunct, there are some other pairs of planets traveling together: Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, sun and Uranus in Gemini, Mars in Taurus and Chiron in Aries, and Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Additionally, Venus square to Saturn, and Mars is square to Pluto.

The first part of the year has been a big push towards newness, but this full moon feels different. It is not asking us to show up as a new and improved version of ourselves. It is asking us to in fact show up while drawing on experience, wisdom from the past, and full of meaning that we’ve spent years developing for ourselves. This is not a time to reinvent the self, even if you might feel some urge to do that. Gemini is always on the hunt for what is new, fresh, hot and exciting. But if we dive deep into that mode, as the sun colluding with Uranus wants us to, we become untethered and without context. Sometimes the context of our lives feels burdensome and we dream of being able to shed it all and feel light and free. To be swept through life without the work of creating it for ourselves, but just receiving, forever learning new adaptations without the drudge work of processing, integrating and embodying what we adapted to in the past. I see the hope of AI, and maybe the hope of GLP-1s too?, as this dream for a clean, empty way of living, forever in the present moment and surrounded by good intentions and a weightless, uncomplicated universe to support us. However, this is far removed from what living really is, and to pretend to live untethered to and unbothered by history and violence and systems of oppression that intersect with the everyday harms we do to each other, to pretend that the traumas of the past don’t exist, means that we can’t create meaning out of them. Meaning-making is messy work, it requires that we be here and now in the present but also accountable to our pasts. Sagittarius wants to learn from the past, and this is the difference between Gemini and Sagittarius. Gemini stays flitting around in the present moment, being entertained and entertaining, while Sagittarius looks outward, upward, all around to draw the threads together to create a massive foundational map of what it means to be human.
