Happy new month! I hope June is really good to you. I am so excited to share that applications for the Emerging Leaders Career Accelerator are live!
The program will support young Nigerian women seeking to strengthen their professional skills, improve their applications, and prepare for internships, graduate opportunities, and early-career roles.
It is led by Fikayo Akeredolu, who brings a lot of experience from the world of academics and corporate (consulting at the World Bank, leading growth at Stears, a PhD at the University of Oxford, and a Master’s from Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar). Fikayo is so passionate about helping Nigerian women thrive professionally. So this is not the session to miss, sis.
The accelerator is free for participants and will be held in July. Applications close on June 15. If this isn’t for you, please share it with a young Nigerian woman who wants to do and be more professionally.

NMA Pharmacist Internship - Chevron (Lagos): Open to recent Nigerian graduates with a BSc in Pharmacy from local or international institutions. Applicants must hold a provisional license issued by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN). The internship lasts 12 months. There are 4 other medical internships at Chevron on our website. All closing on June 8!
Communications and Creative Associate - Digital Initiative for Innovation and Development (DIID) (Remote, Abuja or Lagos): 1-3 years in digital media, communications, or creative production - ideally with a heart for advocacy. You can write a formal press release in the morning and edit a trending reel in the afternoon. N350,000 - N500,000 per month.
Security Engineer at Cowrywise (Lagos): 3+ years in security engineering or infosec with exposure across multiple domains. You’ll work with the engineering, product, risk, and legal teams. Some days you’re deep in code. Other days, you’re drafting a policy or reviewing a vendor’s security posture. ₦1m - ₦1.50m / month. There are 2 other SWE roles from Cowrywise on the website!
NNPC–SNEPCo Postgraduate Scholarship: The scholarship supports one-year Master’s degree programmes at the University of Aberdeen and Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. Covers full tuition fees, a return economy flight ticket, and a contribution towards living expenses. Closing soon!
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Scholarship: For bachelor’s, master’s, or postgraduate programs, recipients can receive up to €992 per month in scholarship funding. The standard duration of support is two years. For doctoral candidates, the scholarship provides up to €1,400 per month. Additional allowances, including a healthcare subsidy, family allowance, a partial reimbursement of tuition fees, and travel grants, may be requested.
One Young World Pernod Ricard Scholarship: The scholarship will identify and connect an interdisciplinary team of 10 committed young leaders who are working to build positive social spaces and tackle harmful drinking and its wider impacts in their countries and communities. Scholars will receive full funding to participate in the One Young World Summit 2026, which takes place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 3 - 6 November.
Female Founders Growth Programme 2.0: An investment readiness acceleration programme for female-led tech and tech-enabled businesses in Nigeria, delivered in partnership with FSDH Merchant Bank. Up to $750,000 in equity investment, and $200,000 – $1,000,000 in debt financing from FSDH Merchant Bank.
International Geneva Peace Fellowship Programme: A 9-month residential programme in Geneva for 10 fellows selected from recent graduates and junior to mid-career professionals. This is a hands-on, practice-oriented experience combining policy engagement, operational exposure, and applied research aimed at fostering the next generation of leadership in peace and humanitarian diplomacy.
Storytelling Fellowship for Environmental Journalists in West Africa - The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID): A 6-month program focused on strengthening the capacity of journalists to conduct investigative reporting on cases of violence against environmental reporters, while supporting the production, publication, and dissemination of these stories in line with international standards.
Heirs Insurance Essay Competition: An annual essay competition for JSS1 - JSS3 students in Nigeria. The winner will receive a ₦5,000,000 scholarship, the first runner-up will receive a ₦3,000,000 scholarship, the second runner-up will receive a ₦1,000,000 scholarship, and the winner’s school will receive a ₦1,000,000 grant.
Social Shifters Global Innovation Challenge: Multiple awards of up to $15,000 USD for genuinely youth-led, up-and-running projects and startups. Eligible startups and projects must address a clearly defined social or environmental issue and must already be delivering some measurable social outputs and impact.
Africa Jobs Fund: To catalyse organisations in export manufacturing and international labour mobility to boost incomes for Africans. It provides funding through equity, revenue-based financing, concessional debt, and occasional grants, ranging from 0 - $100k for pilots to test ideas, and followed by $100k - $1m to scale successful ventures toward profitability or commercial funding.

A quick note
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how nothing is truly impossible. Okay, maybe some things are not yet possible (e.g., skateboarding on Mars). On a serious note, sometimes, the gap between us and an opportunity is just a missing skill, qualification, knowledge, or experience. What if it is reparable? What if you signed up for that GRE or GMAT tutorial? What if you started learning Spanish? What if you took that internship in your third year of uni? What if you started that side hustle with your? What if you attempted to close that gap?
With 60 hours of study, 6 months of a language course, or 3 years of a PhD, you could do it. It won’t always be easy, and sometimes, the gap may persist despite your best efforts. But the journey, even with its twists and turns, could open unexpected doors. And really, the time will pass anyway.
In a world obsessed with overnight success stories, it’s easy to forget that some things take time and that does not make them any less worthwhile.
A few opportunities I’m especially excited about this week:
Privacy Fellow at Wikimedia Foundation (Remote) - A 12-month fellowship for lawyers and graduates in law, public policy, or related fields.
Analyst, Compliance at Flutterwave (Lagos) - 1- 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the payment industry.
Junior Marketer at FarmKind (Remote) - You should have a genuine concern for improving the lives of farmed animals, strong written communication skills, and strong design skills. $70,000 - $90,000 salary.
Youth Engagement Internship at UNICEF (Remote) - Open to current students or graduates of a graduate academic programme in international relations, political science, education, business, monitoring and evaluation, entrepreneurship, or other relevant fields.
