It’s been one week since San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has ended and the one realization I’ve come to is, in the immortal words of Danny Glover, “I’m [getting] too old for this S—!”
Okay, in all seriousness that is not the case, but the recovery time this year was noticeable. Probably because I bookended my San Diego trip with concerts to see Coheed and Cambria before I left and Rush at MSG as soon as I got back. But enough about me – let’s talk COMICCON!
First off, SDCC was a BIG success for DREN Productions. A personal highlight for me was when a fan bought a copy of Ones and Zeroes #1, read it, and thrity minutes later came back to get issue #2 (sorry, guy, it’s coming this Fall to Kickstarter!)
Especially for the two featured trade paperbacks we’re offering as part of our new distribution deal with Lakeside books: Dungeons and Dimwits Vol 1 and The Poe Murders, both of which are now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Fans who stopped by our booth got the opportunity to buy them before they hit stores world-wide and we sold out of both books by Saturday (no small feat!) Our only regret? Not bringing more!
We also showcased our SDCC exclusive books including the aforementioned D&D, but also Plan 39 #1 and Deep Down #1. The lovely and talented producer Dana Kuznetzkoff of Fourth Agreement Entertainment rocked the booth for us selling our Tim Seeley Deadpool #1 homage variant cover for the SDCC Preview Edition. And she took some killer photos for us throughout the show!

We also rocked our Tales of the Bizarre signing featuring creator Omar Morales (Major Thomas) and DREN founder James Mascia, signing copies of Tales #14, the issue they contributed stories for.
Finally, one more highlight (which I wish I took a selfie dammit) was being visited by the one and only Paul Jenkins! We chatted on Twitter/X previous to the show, and even though he’d been on my podcast all those years ago, it meant a lot that he said he would stop by and DID. Kudos to you Paul!
Now onto panels. For the 3rd year in a row, Apex Comics invited me on to talk SIRE/Phazer where we announced our newest crossover - Dinosaurs Attack!
Featuring a STUNNING cover by longtime Amazing Spider-Man legend (and personal favorite of mine) Mark Bagley with colors from Jorge Cortes, this new Kickstarter is available to follow NOW! Launch date coming in 2027

The second panel was for Ultima comics. Founder Joshua Waldrop and I go WAY back to a Wizard World LA panel where I supposedly inspired him to make comics, blah blah blah, and now he runs his own comic book company and hosted his first SDCC panel 😊.
In all seriousness, I was honored to join alongside industry vets like Josh Blaylock from Devils Due, Eisner Nominee Dave Dwonch and Slave Labor Graphics founder Dan Vado.
Overall, the vibe around DREN is looking up. We have so many BIG announcements upcoming (one VERY VERY big one coming in September) that shows that all this hard work is actually paying off.
Speaking of September, I’ll be at Tampa Comic-Con September 4-6th and NYCC in October. Lots still left to do! Sigh…I leave you with this…
