The Synapse Session series, hosted by Simply Neuroscience’s Awareness team, is an opportunity to connect with peers working in the interdisciplinary fields of neuroscience. During these sessions, participants have the opportunity to interact with experts and ask questions, receiving useful career insights. In addition, there will be a comprehensible, in-depth slide presentation focused on analysing a specific research article.

Our upcoming session features Uma Chatterjee, M.S., MHPS, an award-winning mental health neuroscientist, science communicator, and lived experience advocate. After earning her undergraduate degree as a non-traditional student and M.S. in Neuroscience at the University of Texas–Dallas, she is currently a PhD candidate and NIH TL1 Predoctoral Fellow in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Neuroscience Training Program.

What do our brains pick up on that causes us to go into panic mode? The development of Attention Bias Modification, a technique gaining prevalence in the psychology and neuroscience world, may have the answers to these questions and provide substantial progress in helping people overcome their anxiety. ”

  • Do You Get Déjà Vu? (written by Kalash Pandey and edited by Nadia Hall)

    • “Have you ever, for a split second, felt that you were in the same situation or place before, but in reality, it was your first time ever visiting this place or approaching this situation? If you did, that is déjà vu, a French phrase that means “already seen,” and here is why you might have experienced it (Raypole, 2020).”

This month, the FENS (Federation of European Neuroscience Societies) Forum is taking place in Barcelona, and there has been a lot of intriguing research being spotlighted there! Here are some of them in addition to other news:
