Love is in the air. Also, CO2, CH4, and other greenhouse gases too.

It's valentines week, and every shop in the mall is flooding with fancy gifts waiting to be bought for your special one.

Also, a tremendous burden on the environment - the plastic packaging, the teddy bears made of polyester stuffing, the excessive water used during the manufacturing processes, etc.,

Trust us, we are on team LOVE, but is it worth the damage the planet has to go through?

Think twice before giving any of these typical gifts.

Planning on giving balloons? They take 450 years to degrade.

Glitter or little decorations? They are microplastics and have been circulating in the environment for centuries.

Thinking of a bottle of wine? Why not consider local wines instead of imported ones which have a huge carbon footprint?

If you think bouquets are biodegradable and hence the best option - Nope 🤷

Imported cut flowers are transported hundreds of miles in chilled aircraft cabins causing some serious carbon emissions. Also, the plastic wrapping around these flowers doesn't help either.

FYI, the International Council on Clean Transportation calculated that 360,000 metric tonnes of CO2 were produced in 2018 by Valentine's Day flowers transported from Colombia to US airports. That is equal to roughly 78,000 cars driven in one year.

Why not choose an experience rather than an item? Give the gift of a fantastic experience to your loved one. There are so many sustainable options out there too.

So, show some love to the planet, will ya?

Happy Valentine's Day :)
