Here we are at summary number two. I’ve a sneaking suspicion it’s going to be short because there are a few bombs to drop and then step aside, that’s about it.
I’m back at it. They are so good for shoulder, wrist, and elbow mobility that I can’t ignore them.
The training is being provided 5 days a week, for 5 weeks, for something like €160 (plus clubs, postage incl). It’s online (boo) but the teacher is a beast (yay) and the quality of the clubs is topnotch (also yay).
Also, good luck finding clubs in Europe for a better price – without a training schedule included.
I’ve been dancing around and flirting with this for the last year ,but the chips have finally fallen and they have fallen in a way that is encouraging, so I’m getting at it.
The Write Minds community has been instrumental in this, and it’s nice to have an odd corner of the internet that feels like a bunch of colleagues, but they all want each other to succeed.
I’ve also been running a weekly ‘Deep Work’ session in connection with this, and it’s been great fun. People have been seeing great results, as have I. This will stay.
I used to sit for meditation every day for about an hour, then I flipped a coin and changed my mind. This was good, but I realised that certain things were going in strange ways.
I’ve brought the long sits back, but I’m not obsessive about them being an hour in length. I just set the timer on ‘long’ and have at it. I also sit before bed every night, and this has improved my sleep quality phenomenally.
‘Practicing properly’ is the key, and I am going to write it on a piece of paper and stick it near my meditation corner because I still forget sometimes, and wonder why it isn’t doing what I know it is capable of.
True to my word, soon after the last post I realised that YouTube was feeling like a chore. Creating content is bullshit, and I want no part of it, unless I’m creating something from the heart.
Surprise surprise, he’s back to his roots.
I haven’t enacted this one yet (and I’m right in the zone where I usually get bored and quit, so I’ll see what happens) but it feels monotonous and boring, and this is against my entire ethos.
I see that despite my best efforts the internet is receiving more of my time than I wish it to receive. This is rewarding me with less appetite for reading, and a shorter attention span.
I am not interested in that trade-off. Writing this has helped me get it clear. Social media is out.
Tonight, I sat down because I wanted to write, but I didn’t want to write this. I wanted to write for something else, so that’s what I’m going to do.
I’ll still keep notes on what I am doing in my own world, and maybe I’ll keep it up but there are other things that are better deserving of my time.
That’s it. Sport is still in. Work is in – and bigger than before. Internet timewasting is out. If I’m going to use it, I better be earning with it.
See, a short one!
Peace!
