Let’s go, 2026.
I know this is late, but I’m going to write this as of 31st of December, so 1 week + 3 days.
How bizarre is it, that this year has already ended? (We say this every year don’t we?) It just feels like I was sitting in my room in the first week of this year deciding to start writing weeknotes and I’m here writing the 52nd one.
Time really moves fast sometimes and moves slow sometimes.
I’m glad I picked this habit up though. Writing is something I’ve always wanted to do, and these weeknotes allowed me to do a bit of it, intentionally, week on week.
Kids, if you’re on the fence about picking a method to write more regularly - weeknotes could be that gateway drug. (Although, please avoid all other forms of drugs).
This week a friend at the gym was testing out her 1RM - which stands for 1 Rep Max. This is the weight at which you can, at most, lift it for ONE rep.
She was awesome, and broke her inner limits. It was such a privilege to witness this.
Prasanna and I had gone there to cheer her with a hype card, and that’s the picture you see at the top. A reminder for her and a great set of 3 words to keep in all our hearts as we step into a new year.
I had a nice cozy dinner with friends from the Badminton gang and their respective significant others. These folks have really become people that I am looking forward to spending time with, be it to play badminton, to grab a covfefe with or to meet for dinner.
They are gentlefolk who laugh heartily, a quality I greatly admire in fellow humans. They are also wonderful listeners and even listened to me talk about my FIL’s death and how much I miss him (most of society finds ways to avoid talking about this). Each of them has something great that they bring to the table, and its genuinely a pleasure to be in their company.
I am one of those people that’s always found friendships, moreso adult friendships hard to make & sustain and I’m glad that these folks are being the exception to the rule.
Here’s to more PJs, smashes, drops, (good) coffee & food.
I ended the year with a workout and man that felt great. I managed to hit a PR on the last day. I cannot believe where I started at, and where I am today. I’ve always been humbled by the endurance capabilities of my body (heck I have a tattoo of the word “Endure” on my hand) but this was the year of being humbled by the lifting capabilities of the same body. I didn’t know that I had this much strength in me.
Its been a long, rewarding journey. I owe it all to my body, my mind and most of all - Muthu, for being there and showing me the reins. I don’t intend to stop anytime soon.
Kids, your body is the only thing that travels with you through all your ups and downs, treasure it. Lift heavy, eat well and see how much your body thanks you for it. And if you’re looking for a great coach to help you through it - buzz me, and I’ll introduce you to Muthu. You can’t go wrong with him by your side.
This is the first year in which I didn’t see, hear, talk to, or shake my FIL’s hand. The finality of death still baffles me. How can I look at the sun rise and not silently know that he’d have enjoyed the same? How can I not feel that firm hand shaking mine? How can I not hear him call my name? How can I not talk to him about a great book I read?
Something just popped into my head as I’m writing this and it was around a song that Prasanna and I absolutely loved listening to as we built our relationship - Truly, Madly, Deeply.
But I think those 3 words have more meaning now.
I love Prasanna truly, madly, deeply & I miss my FIL truly, madly, deeply.
I never thought that it could even be applied in that context, but here we are.
A new year dawns on us tomorrow and I hope that we all are dealt cards that we know what to do with. To all those folks who’ve read my weeknotes - Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, engaging and encouraging. You know who you are. I will see you next year.
And remember kids - Breathe, Brace & Dominate. There’s just no other way to live life. My FIL would heartily agree too.
