In Memory of Walter Phillip Rushing

Walter Phillip Rushing, age 86, passed away at the home of his daughter on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Walter will be inurned at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads, 693 Wildersville Rd., Wildersville, TN 38388 on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 1:30 PM.

Walter was born on December 24, 1939, to Walter Herron Rushing and Christine Ramey Rushing. He attended Browns Church in Madison County, where he was baptized when he was a child.

He served nine years in the United States Navy. During his active duty he was an E3 on the USS Safeguard Ship (ARS-25), following that time he served in the National Guard.

His greatest joy later in life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of which he loved dearly.

He is survived by his two daughters: Christine Bartlett, of Luray, TN, Rachel Overton of Jackson, TN and their mother; four granddaughters: Danielle Cowden (Tyler), Morgan Horton (Forrest), Ella Lewis, and Hannah Tilson (Zach); he also leaves a legacy of two great grandsons and four great granddaughters.

Honorary Pallbearers are Walter's Angels from Missouri.

All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
