do you ever wish,
when every last drop
of hot water is gone,
during a shower so long
it could have lopped back time,
that you might step out
looking like your twenty-one
year-old self again?
just for a moment,
before the fog clears from the mirror,
you look closely and
it is so.
squinting, you see,
you are her, and she is you,
wild hair,
sparkling eyes,
high color cheeks,
without the pain this time,
without losing the wisdom and
experience these years have brought,
without the wrinkles time has wrought.
