The kids are back in school here in Florida and the snowbirds north for at least a couple more months, leaving the streets free as bees to the locals for most of the day. Those who travel beachside still catch sight of late summer tourists experiencing feet first how hot hot can be.
Enjoy this mini bit found lounging about the shade of my Mac.
Sunscreen recommended.

We study the stucco house. Fresh paint. New roof. Manicured lawn. I work with Bob, we’re hired by the city to walk neighborhoods and rank homes based on curb appeal. Seems sneaky and nosy, but the pay is good for a summer job.
The house ranks high with a score of 5. Most places need a touch up here and there, but a few need a magician to make the place vanish. Bob once made my watch disappear. Off my wrist and into his front pocket without me knowing. He said its his best trick. My dad said I was tricked, the loser stole your watch and abracadabra! Bob got fired and I quit.
Bob works as a lifeguard now. On the beach, hot with sea scents. He ranks the job a 5 plus plus. He hasn’t pulled anyone out of the surf yet, but makes a show pulling silky scarves out the legs of his swim trunks and waving hocus-pocus hands over jellyfish stings to bewitch the pain.
Me, I spend my time at a new zero of a job gluing hours 1 through 12 on clock faces sliced from rank dead trees. By summer’s end, I’ve knit an 11 between my eyebrows.

“Just let them sit in the goddam sun. But the world won’t let them because there’s nothing more dangerous than letting old farts sit in the sun. They might be thinking. Same thing with kids. Keep ‘em busy or they might start thinking.”
