I Will Fall for This Romance Setup Every Single Time

I’m excited because it’s Book Club week, which is always one of the highlights of my month. I hope you’re still riding the high from Bookstore Romance Day this weekend and diving into whatever haul you grabbed. And if you didn’t get a chance to celebrate, I’ve got you covered with plenty of romance recommendations for the week...

Is there any microtrope more fun to read than the only one bed trope? I don’t care if an author reuses this in every one of their new books because it gets me every time. There’s forced proximity and then there’s ONLY ONE BED to share. And forget trying to erect a wall of pillows between each other. We know you’re just going to wake up snuggling, and I’m here for it.

This is a recent read that used this trope SO well considering Delilah and Jackson are complete opposites who are forced to cover the same snowstorm. She’s afraid she’s too much fun while Jackson worries he’s no fun at all, but throw these two together with only one bed to share and it was magic. If you love opposites attract with plenty of forced proximity and yearning, don’t miss this one.

Seven Year Itch by Amy Daws

It finally takes an only one bed situation, orchestrated by a scheming matchmaker no less, to move Dakota and Calder past their animosity and tip them from hate to love. If you like your enemies-to-lovers romance hilarious, steamy, and with a mountain man thrown into the mix, this one absolutely delivers.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Olive and Ethan already can’t stand each other, but when their siblings’ wedding ends in disaster, they’re the only two able to take the newlyweds’ nonrefundable honeymoon to Maui. Now they have to pretend they’re married AND share one bed. If you love enemies-to-lovers banter, forced proximity, and watching all that animosity turn into attraction, this is a classic for a reason.

The Blonde Identity by Ally Carter
I adored this hilarious romcom about a woman who wakes up with amnesia only to discover there are some very dangerous people after her. Luckily, there’s a spy who knows exactly what’s going on and is determined to keep her out of trouble, even when that means sharing only one bed. If you’re looking for a fun, flirty romance with action, adventure, and fantastic banter, I highly recommend this one.

Since I have Kindle Unlimited for the next three months, I’m amassing quite the TBR of books I want to squeeze in between my ARCs, which inspired me to update my list of the best romance books in Kindle Unlimited to read right now.

This has been one of my favorite romances of the year, and I cannot wait to hear what everyone thought about Jack and Poppy, the grumpy/sunshine dynamic, those cooking lessons, and Jack’s transformation into one seriously swoony book boyfriend.

Colt kicks things off with enemies-to-lovers tension between a grumpy cowboy and the city girl sent to give his ranch some fresh branding. If you’re a fan of Jessica Peterson’s cowboys like I am, I’d make this one a priority. Bonus for KU readers: it’s available in Kindle Unlimited!

The Fall Affair by Vi Keeland
It may only be the middle of August, but if you're already craving a little fall escape, how about Tuscany instead? A workaholic New York lawyer, an inherited Italian estate, and the handsome winemaker next door make this my pick for anyone craving romance with serious vacation vibes.

Something About September by Julia McKay
For something cozier, this fall second chance romance sends Rebecca back to her hometown to renovate her grandmother’s diner, only to discover the one contractor available is Cort, her former high school crush and now a very tempting single dad. If you’re looking for small-town charm, yearning, and all the fall vibes, put this one on your list.

Hard Pass by K. Bromberg
If preseason football already has you jonesing for a football romance, this is the one I'd check out. A star quarterback under investigation + the NFL investigator whose kiss he's never forgotten gives us sports romance, scandal, and enemies-to-lovers tension.
