A golden first semester

My first semester of grad school was at first very challenging but ended beautifully. I am so grateful to be at Cornell, where I get to collaborate with scientists (like Johannes, pictured to the left) and have access to incredible natural areas. I did not realize how inviting the faculty would be to random invitations to chat and collaborate, and am having so much fun getting to work with folks across the institution.

And it doesn’t hurt that Ithaca is gorges 😘

Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 29, when  Erin Genia and I will be celebrating our new piece of public artwork!  Located on Dakota homeland near the Mnísota Wakpá, this project was installed in October. These banners honor the land, its history, and its people through the inclusion of native plants, pollinators, regalia and the morning star, offering ecological healing alongside cultural restoration.

And last but least, I am grateful to you! Thank you for reading this and for sharing in my journey.

Happy Year of the Dragon!

One of my last projects in Boston was working with a community jury to select the artist for the Year of the Dragon. Just a few weeks ago, Ponnapa Prakkamakul’s massive Dragon artwork was installed in Chin Park on The Greenway!

Each semester, visiting artists teach the MFA Seminar. In the fall, we were gifted with deep love and care from artist EJ Hauser. Their current (incredible) exhibition at Derek Eller Gallery is on view through March 9 in New York City!

Sopheak Sam and Adrian Aguilera, members of my MFA cohort, are also presenting work for this year’s Cornel Council for the Arts Freedom of Expression Exhibition.
