Royal Adjacency Activated

When the Royal editor of The Times writes her own version of the Sussex PR wishlist, and then presents it as journalism, you know that Royal adjacency is officially activated!

Royal fatigue is real, and public frustration is rising because the King is perceived as enabling it.

No one has ever seriously suggested that Harry is being welcomed back into the fold as a working Royal. We all knew his balcony days were well and truly over; let’s face it, the show would be a complete flop at that point. The concern is this allowance of proximity, this Royal adjacency that allows the Sussexes to grift off association.

The most recent example being the King’s announcement of the Highgrove meeting.

This gave Harry much-needed cover after the Charlotte Griffith allegations and for his “whitewash” attack against the judicial system, but more importantly, it gave him precious Royal adjacency. This hybrid, pseudo-Royal, Ukraine-visiting charity patron gets treated like a Prince, yet no one knows what official capacity he is acting in.

The idea that he has any kind of authority in Ukraine is absurd, as he’s just a private citizen with a camera crew in tow, isn’t he? Not an official geopolitical actor… Is he some sort of moral envoy from the King being sent into a war zone, or is he acting on behalf of the UK government? A reasonable enquiry, one would think.

Do tell.

We see William increasingly sidelined, with no boundaries enforced against Harry and Meghan, despite their relentless attacks on him and his family for over 6 years. This is resented because it leaves them exposed by a King who seemingly rewards disloyalty while they are punished for discipline and consistency. There is a strong feeling out there that the Wales family’s contribution is being undervalued and Harry should not be allowed to enter the picture in any capacity, as it will just invite further Sussex speculation and endless family drama cycles, repeated ad nauseam.

The sad thing is, all of this should have been shut down by now, with the Monarchy clearly separated from it, but it hasn’t been, and to be clear, the responsibility for that lies with the one who wears the crown.

In the video below, I validate the considerable frustration people feel and encourage them to express it. You are not silly, and you’re not overreacting. I suspect the Palace wants you to get bored with it all and just drift away; that’s how they always get away with everything.
