Elections: State Attorney General Races

In previous posts, I’ve highlighted key Congressional and gubernatorial races. I would be deeply remiss, however, if I didn’t draw your attention to state contests for Attorney General. If you are alarmed about the erosion of voting rights, federal attacks on immigrants or protestors, and/or child support enforcement, consumer protection & privacy matters, the choice for state Attorney General should be of utmost interest to you.

At the top of the list of AG races this year is the one in Texas, as incumbent Ken Paxton elected to run for US Senate rather than seek re-election. State Senator Nathan Johnson is in a hotly contested contest against (no surprise here) a Trump endorsed candidate.

Democratic candidates in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and the aforementioned Texas will either be running for an open office or challenging an incumbent.

Democratic incumbents are running for reelection in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Primaries are still to be held in Delaware and Rhode Island.

P.S. What should be appalling is that no Democrat ran for this office in Arkansas and South Dakota!
