Shannon W Haynes · Story Feathers 🪶

Inspired by Kristin Weber’s brief description of “magical creatures”, which was not specifically what she was writing about, but the words have not left my mind since reading her post.

We fill our lives with magical creatures.

Animals,

Friends who walk beside us,

Teachers and mentors,

Grandparents,

Parents,

Siblings,

A spouse.

They twinkle and fade.

Even a child does not stay.

Set her on her feet

Knowing

She will wander away.

Magic flies

Windborne

Settling before our eyes,

Umbrella closing—

An illusion of permanence

Cloaked in responsibility.

But every one of these beings

Sparkles

With faerie dust

And will one day go,

Maybe slowly,

Drifting away with the shifting breeze,

Or instantly,

A flash

In a storm

Leaving a bright vibration,

A bell ringing

To inspire

And respect.
