What the Trumpland Diary Is — and What Paid Is For

When I started The Trumpland Diary, I didn’t expect the first piece to go viral.
I didn’t expect thousands of subscribers to show up almost overnight.
And I didn’t have monetization turned on yet.

The first piece – the one that brought many of you here – is still public, and it should be. It did its job.

That early moment set expectations…including some I didn’t intend.

So I want to be clear about how this works now.

The core reporting stays public.

That includes:

• documented facts

• source-linked investigations

• timelines

• receipts

If something matters to the public record, it stays accessible.
I’m not interested in turning basic information into a toll booth.

Paid is not:

• “supporting a creator”

• a tip jar

• early access to jokes

• longer versions of the same post

Paid exists for one reason:

Orientation.

The news cycle is loud, fast, and deliberately confusing. Most coverage explains what happened. Much less explains:

• what actually matters

• what’s being tested

• what will be normalized next

• what can safely be ignored

That’s what paid subscribers get.

Paid subscribers get a weekly briefing that does one job:

separate signal from noise.

It will be:

• predictable

• analytical

• focused on implications, not outrage

• written to help you anticipate what’s coming, not relive what already happened

The reporting is public.
The interpretation that helps you use it is not.

Early on, many people subscribed – and even paid – before there was a clear product. Some of those subscriptions didn’t last. That’s on me.

If you don’t know what you’re paying for, you shouldn’t pay.

This post is about fixing that.

Paid is for readers who want:

• fewer surprises

• less whiplash

It is not for:

• people who only want the punchline

• people who are satisfied once the joke lands

There’s nothing wrong with staying free.

I’m not interested in apologizing for charging for analysis – nor am I interested in pretending paid and free are the same thing.
