We Need To Talk About Rolodexes

I was scrolling social media after lunch, getting packed up for a trip to my mother's for a couple days, when I notice my girlfriend Juniper asking about digital rolodexes. The problem was simple: she has met a bunch of cool people and good contacts while at a speedrunning marathon, but within a couple weeks she was starting to lose track of who was who and what their contact details were. It was…

English EasyRPG Compatible Games

I fucking love RPG Maker games, and especially the era of games made in RPG Maker 2000 and 2003. Many hugely influential games were originally made in these engines, including Yume Nikki, OFF, OneShot, Space Funeral, and Ib.

Defining “Player Solipsism”

My friend Inumo reached out last week about a topic we had discussed a number of times before, that I haven't really seen discussed in broader roleplaying game discussion. A while ago I coined the term "player solipsism" to refer to a school of RPG design that is based around a fundamentally different set of principles from simulationism. A while ago Inumo wrote a sketch getting into these ideas,…

New essay 'The Erotic Circle' available

I had the great honor of being part Adult Analysis Anthology #4, which released last week on itch.io. My essay, The Erotic Circle is about how theories of play relate to eroticism, and how this can interplay with long-distance relationships.

We Need To Talk About Calendars

Do you use a web calendar and do you know how to wrangle an ICS feed? I asked this question on Mastodon and in a private Discord server, and if my results are indicative, your answer is probably a variant of: "No."

Discussing fatalism, Doomerism, and Self-annihilation

This blog post is a slight rewrite with additional links based on a thread I posted on Mastodon.

Authoritative Titling: Battlefield

Presented without further comment, here I have fully indexed the Battlefield series of video games using HATS

Steam Demo Spree, Feb 2026

This post is adapted from my thread on Mastodon where I played a ton of demos during Steam Next Fest.

I Think You Should Leave - Frogcloth

A guarantee from a mattress company unravels.

Our Layer, A Submachine Epilogue Erotic Fanfic

Submachine is a game dearly beloved by both me and my girlfriend Juniper, and with us both being transgender it was almost impossible for us to not create a T4T reading of Murtaugh and Elizabeth after playing the recent Submachine: Legacy game. This fanfiction was something I tinkered with for a couple years until it felt right, and I completed it. I hope you enjoy it.

Genrenomicon

Genrenomicon generates a list of genres using quick-markov, fed from a seed list of genres which has been compiled from a handful of general indexes and numerous individual sources. This input corpus has then been hand-adjusted for maximal compatibility, iteratability, and recombination. The output is then further combed over to weed out irrelevant and unreadable results, and put through a second…

Making Loblaws Usable

One of the many daily struggles of modern life is that we live in an era where even the hellspurned bigbox grocery store doesn't have an easy to use website any more. Due to not owning a car and difficulty of legging over to the grocery store every time I want produce, I use a delivery service and order a lot of my groceries online. I quite sincerely loathe this process. There used to be a…

Recommended Extension: AI warning for Steam

As tagging every single bad actor on Steam who uses AI is a laborious project which simply and easily overwhelms even the most industrious weasel, I am happy to report that a good samaritan out there, seeeeew, has made a userscrupt and browser extension which automatically pops up a modal when you visit a store page with an AI disclosure. It works seamlessly and gets directly into your face, so…

Downloading artist artwork en masse from Discogs using MusicBrainz

I've started using Lightweight Music Server as my primary OpenSubsonic server for streaming my own music to my devices, and among other things one of its great features is that it allows you to download and link artist metadata using their MusicBrainz ID.

Steam Demo Spree, Oct 2025

Lo and upon ye, Steam Next Fest came and with it tons of demos, and like last time I've decided to not only play Next Fest demos but also just Demos in general from my Discovery Queue and Wishlist.

Two Games I Worked On!

Guess what folks, did you know that I do pixel art professionally now? What?? Guess what: Two games came out today featuring art by yours truly! This is a huge deal to me as it's some of my first work at this scope, and some of my best pixel art work to date!

Walkthrough: Nacah - Journey from Darkness to Light

Based on walkthrough from Game Guru. This guide was written to assist JuniperTheory with speedrunning the game. It should be noted that almost all cutscenes can be skipped by pressing ESC. It is also possible to softlock yourself if you do not get each page when it is available. Make sure it shows in your inventory before moving on.

July Updates

Just a list of updates of things recently that I didn't otherwise post places:

Making Darkest Dungeon into a Porn Game

This is just, tons of straight up pornography. All 18+ content. But here is, essentially, my modlist for this endeavour, which I have enjoyed quite a lot.

Blackle Zine #1

This winter, Blackle sat down and played Anthology of the Killer, one of the greatest pieces of multimedia art of the decade. Among other things, it is about Zine artists, and it felt so inspired by the experience that it decided to make a Zine of its own. It ran out of steam roughly halfway through, and left it on the coffee table with the instruction that I could add to it if I wanted to.

Asylum

This game was pre-ordered during the initial Kickstarter campaign, and I never expected I would actually receive it. In some ways, I wonder if it would've been better had I never. This review has also been posted on Steam and Backloggd.

What else remains to give?

Steam Demo Spree, Feb 2025

This post is basically a compilation of posts I made to my girlfriend over roughly a week and change during the back half of Steam Next Fest. I am the kind of autistic who needs to wrap up threads in my brain, and being able to clear out mental space by wiping off part of my wishlist was really fun! And my girlfriend really enjoyed hearing my reactions to trying various games.

Whoa Look at this Cool Addon: Sortable

So I was running across a kind of exhausting situation today which isn't very uncommon for me: I was going through a tutorial and had to navigate a giant HTML table in a software backend that was pseudo-sorted. By pseudo-sorted I mean it was alphabetically sorted after being sorted in some other grouping. What this often looks like is something like this:
