How I Chose My Surgeon

It started with Kelliee Butler.

Kelliee is someone I know through the online world. I admire her look, but honestly what drew me to her first was how she shows up. On TikTok and Instagram she is soft, feminine, and delightfully mischievous in a way that I find completely compelling. She has had breast implants, and the result suits her beautifully. So I reached out and asked her about her experience.

That felt like the natural first step. Not a Google search, not a consultation booking. A conversation with a real woman whose result I could actually see and whose presence I trusted. She was generous with her experience and it gave me a solid foundation to start from.

Then I did my research. I looked online, read reviews, and took my time. I wanted a surgeon in Ottawa. Travelling for this surgery wasn’t something I wanted to do, and being at home for my recovery mattered to me. I wanted to be in my own space, in my own bed, with my own things around me. That narrowed the field considerably and I was glad it did.

I landed on Dr. Silverman at Ottawa Plastic Surgery. The reviews were strong, the work looked consistently good, and something about the practice felt right. His two decades of experience and over 8,000 procedures gave me real confidence. That’s not a number you accumulate doing mediocre work.

Ottawa is also worth mentioning here. It’s a conservative city when it comes to aesthetics. We’re not Miami or LA, not even Toronto or Montreal. Fillers and dramatic augmentations are not exactly the local currency. What that means in practice is that a surgeon building his reputation here has to produce results that are considered and well executed. That mattered to me. I wanted voluptuous. Juicy, fleshy, curvy. But voluptuous in a way that suits my frame, my body, my life. The right size, the right shape, the right type of implant, the right procedure. This wasn’t a trend I was chasing. I had a clear aesthetic in mind, one I’d been drawn to for a long time, but I wanted it interpreted for my body, my proportions, my life. It was something more personal than imitation, and it needed a surgeon who understood the difference.

But I had one more person to ask. My medical aesthetician has been in my corner for a long time. She knows faces and bodies and the industry of looking after both. I asked her if she had a recommendation for a breast augmentation surgeon in Ottawa. She named Dr. Silverman without hesitation.

That was enough for me. I booked the consultation.
