Hello book friends,
I wanted to pop in and give a quick welcome to my new subscribers! I’m so glad you’re here 🤗
I also wanted to drop this note because I’m not entirely sure when I’ll get another chance to write.
Remember group projects in school? You were happy to be part of it… until no one else did anything and suddenly everything was left to you? Welcome to my life as of late.
First the exciting news. We are currently on baby watch—waiting for grandbaby #3. A boy this time 💙
I’m one of four girls. I had three daughters. And now those daughters have given me granddaughters.
So yes… we are officially mixing things up and adding a boy to the lineup, and I’m very excited about it.
There’s something kind of magical about watching your family expand in ways you didn’t quite expect. And the sweetest little twist is he’s due right around my birthday, giving me a brand new reason to celebrate.
I can’t wait to meet him.
Welcome to the chaos, little man.
And then, because every life deserves a good plot twist, my husband decided that my birthday is also the perfect day for his cataract surgery 👀
I have no idea why that date was chosen. I was not consulted, nor did I approve this scheduling.
So while I’m over here in full doula mode… he will be recovering from eye surgery. I’m not crazy about him doing that alone, but maybe the dogs could be of some comfort.
And just when I thought we had reached peak chaos… jury duty entered the chat.
As you know, that gets scheduled well in advance. Birthing a baby does not.
So there’s nothing like your very pregnant daughter lovingly (and aggressively) texting:
“DON’T GET PICKED.”
“I’ll do what I can,” was my response. Let’s hope by some small miracle it gets canceled🤞
Between baby watch, possible doula duty, and cataract surgery logistics, I’m not entirely sure what kind of alternate reality this is…but here we are.
If you’re also in a season of life where everything is happening at once—and none of it asked for your permission… hi.
You’re in good company.
I’m just finishing up The Ravenels series by Lisa Kleypas, and I’m not ready to let those characters go yet.
They’re not brand new, but honestly? She just knows the job.
Her heroes hit differently. The slow burn, the emotional payoff, the way the tension builds in those quieter moments…
Maybe it’s because life feels a little chaotic right now, but I’ve been drawn to stories that take their time. They feel like comfort to me.
When I’m not listening to books, I’ve been working on something I started a while ago…
The Accidental Manny.
Here’s a little peek:
Gwynevere Pederson has a plan.
She always has a plan—because if she doesn’t, everything feels like it might fall apart. So she manages, organizes… and worries. About everything.
Letting someone new into her carefully controlled life?
Nope. Not happening.
Leo Cordova is only supposed to be temporary.
After everything that changed him, he’s learned to move through life differently—steady, grounded, untouched by chaos. No attachments. No expectations.
But Gwyn wasn’t part of the plan.
And somewhere between her constant worry and his quiet calm… one kiss changes everything.
Now the lines between temporary and permanent are starting to blur—and the closer they get, the harder it becomes to pretend this is nothing.
Walking away should be easy.
But it might be the one thing neither of them can do.
Thank you for reading! Here’s to all the ways we love and take care of each other!!💛🌸
