Hey guys I’ve lagged behind on the bi-weekly emails, whoops. But I’ve been doing stuff.
1. I made a tiny short silent film based on my Horse Dance painting + a series of mini paintings.
Here it is on Instagram Here it is on Youtube Here it is on Tiktok.
It started as a simple promo video to try to get people to go to my store, but as I worked on it it evolved into a little story. I’m really happy with how it turned out, especially because so much about this was new to me. I only started video editing this month, I’ve never attempted acting, as rudimentary as it is here, I’ve never tried to make a short film on my own, let alone a live action one starring myself. This was improvised and experimental beginning to end, and the experiment succeeded. It made me realize I can do things I never knew I could do when I have an idea I’m excited about.
But after posting this I feel I’m fighting for my life and dying trying to get my stuff noticed on the internet (and I’m really trying lately, out of necessity of survival.) I really thought this video had all the ingredients for popularity, but it didn’t do better than the average post, although it got a proportionally high comment count which were all highly enthusiastic. So I would think that if everyone who sees it loves it, the post should spread, but no, that was not the case. Anyways I have no choice but to soldier on and keep trying to figure out how to make social media work for me (while staying true to my art of course) even though its fucking grueling.
Honestly if anyone knows what they’re doing in the arena of social media/engagement, help a sister out. Simply making great work is obviously not enough anymore, although that is the one thing I will force myself to keep doing. I feel like I’ve been in an invisible jail since 2021 when restrictions were put on my account. I know it’s also the algorithm and the economy or whatever, and that most, if not all creators are facing similar hurdles in 2026. But it still feels extra brutal, now that I am really making efforts to innovate and adapt and break through for the first time since my IG heyday, and I’m still hitting walls.
2. We have added a bunch of new items to the FOOOLS Shop.
And I made a video ad.
