We’ve made it to the other side of June! Already ripping through the summer. For anyone new here, this is one of the most-requested Selleb series to date: THE REAL SCOOP, the inside intel on what items are ACTUALLY getting purchased, and the requisite discourse: the good, the bad, and everything in between. We air all the laundry. Now we have a separate IG account dedicated to just receipts (requirements: delivers shock value or real value)!! Go give it a follow, AND our new meme account which is lowkey going viral rn 😳
We believe there’s an insatiable demand for this kind of content (and the data proves it!) bc most other roundups + listicles are exclusively built on low-fidelity / web-scraped data (social + press mentions, incentivized reviews, maybe even affiliate clicks which don’t reveal what’s actually getting purchased —> all shopping signals FOR SALE). Almost none of these publishers know what is actually being bought.
From New York to Tokyo, here’s what the coolest users on the Selleb app bought during the month of June and what the most discerning people really thought of them…
MATE the Label organic stretch scoop bra ($58): The best answer rn to why are we all drinking from glass bottles and then spending 12 hours a day shrink-wrapped in petrochemicals? High fives all around, MATE has gotten lots of love from the top percentile of Selleb tastemakers recently, specifically this bra. (For leggings, see below for other recs!) It’s made from 92% GOTS-certified organic cotton with 8% spandex, so not fully plastic-free, but it is still a (clean) material step away from the usual nylon/polyester sports-bra swamp of suspects, and the cut is flattering enough to, well, make the cut. Can’t say that about most organic activewear :/ Swimwear is next…
Legging recommendations c/o @lauren on Selleb.
Running - Maggie’s Organics Blackout Pocket Leggings
Yoga - Fishers Finery Ecofabric Yoga Pants
Socks - Maggie’s OrganicsNicola Bathie golden collar necklace ($50) + bezel oval charm ($30): There are diamonds, there are lab diamonds, and then there is glass. This one is interesting because they’re two separate SKUs, and not a single person bought only one. According to one Selleb user, it is giving Arielle Ratner (read: Price Upon Request). SOLD. This jewelry designer is one to watch for sure…a worthy “dupe” for some of the 6-digit hardware stacks that might otherwise grace your Pinterest feeds. Jewelry “dupes” are nothing new but recently they're getting really good: one well-known influencer recently told us she buys half her jewelry stack from BaubleBar and no one has a clue. Took notes, obviously!
We did some fieldwork last week to confirm that Sephora reps actually stand by this product (yes, it is flying off the shelves):
