This poem is for anyone who has spent too long living like an apology, folding themselves into smaller shapes just to survive rooms that never deserved their silence. It is about the damage done by doubt, the invisible cages built by fear, and the way a person can begin to mistake caution for truth. It walks through the ache of hesitation, the hunger for a life not yet claimed, and the strange power that returns when belief begins to rise louder than the voices that once buried it.
You are not small,
though the world has tried to push you into corners.
It has instilled fear into your mind,
making you timid and indecisive.
It has made you believe you are not worth it,
that you don’t deserve a better life.
It has made you feel like an imposter,
although you belong all the same.
It has tricked you into believing in perfection,
when progress is the truest path.
It has made you believe that opportunities are scarce,
though abundance is possible for all.
It has paralyzed you with excessive thoughts,
leading to missed opportunities.
It has burdened you with procrastination,
avoiding action because you fear failure.
That fear you feel is not truth,
it’s just a habit of over-caution,
in a world that made you feel worthless.
Believe louder than these false doubts speak.
The universe responds when you believe with passion.
Act like the door is already opened,
and watch the hinges surrender to your will.
With love,
Scott
