Douglas Schmidt freely plays bandoneon into Oliver’s complex sound processing system, and they create Symphony No 3 - Spring in one take, in the spirit of great 20th century symphonies.
This is the third in our “Symphony” series. There is a consistent concept shared by these 3 works: they are conceived as a single statement; the instrumentation is always bandoneon & electronics; and the music has several sections, similar in certain respects to the kind of symphonic music written since the early 20th century.
Schmidt and Oliver are both seasoned composers who have written many symphonic and chamber music works for classical musicians. Oliver has pursued electronic music since his teenage years, resulting in prize-winning music.
