Eagle drama, The Howl, and The Invoice

Welcome! This is one of the platforms I use to raise alarm about the many ways women’s rights are denied and trampled in the U.S. and globally. It’s not enough to know what’s wrong. We have to fortify a global womanist community that resists the diminishment embedded in our cultures. Transformative actions like The Howl have to be birthed. Possibly we start in October.

Recycling to minimize waste: U.S. recycling systems process only 24% of municipal waste. Momma E would do a lot better if so much reusable stuff was not put into landfill. Here’s some ingenuity at its best: a recycle processing facility in Minneapolis, MN.

Great Creatures: The Saga of Bald Eagles Shadow and Jackie and their four-month-old eaglets, Sandy and Luna.

Their nest is 145- feet up in a Jeffrey pine. Many days of drama as the pair raise two hatchlings to fledglings, defending them from cold windy weather and attacks by ravens as well as feeding them fish round the clock in a massive nine-foot-wide nest. Two cameras stream them live 24/7 and record them.. One eaglet fell from the nest before she knew she could fly. Both gigantic babies are still ragging their devoted parents to be fed. Soon they will learn hunting skills. Currently, mom eagle, Jackie, is under care for severe anemia after she was found staggering around on a lake shoreline. Radical Action: The Howl

Yes, The Howl is dangerous. I’ve been building a case for The Howl by documenting women’s shared realities, especially related to physical and psychological violence.

Think of The Howl as pro-woman activism, as public theater, a compelling aural reminder that women will not suffer quietly the violence inflicted on them. Imagine the reaction of urban (or suburban or rural) neighbors to 2-3 minutes of women howling every time the full moon rises. Then, the Howl ripples through time zones, around the world. The first couple times, people are wondering WFT and perhaps a little nervous. The message is stated clearly through media outlets and blogs and social media and even on street corners: The Howl is a demand that our legacy to our daughters and sons, to all the succeeding generations, be freedom from violence against women.
