All is Right in My World

what adventure will

this new day bring?

the delicious scents as i

go down a rabbit hole

burrow my nose into that oh-so-hard-to-get-inside hollow

chase the impudent squirrels even as they tease me from the fence,

scolding me for not being fast enough

dig deeper holes in the readymade ones

kindly left for me by the gophers

who boogie the night away

twirling delicately in a two-step tango

between mini gopher mounds

on the lawn in the backyard

will a walk lead me to sniff at smells

some familiar, many unknown,

where i get my news of the world?

or maybe today

i will sit a while longer on this couch

next to the comforting warmth

of my human

lean closer, snuggle deeper, just a tad more

so, i am attached at the hip

and all is right in my world
