Character art of Rylan and Bronwen by Tania (p.ink.muffin on Instagram)

THE COBWORLD is a standalone YA Fantasy and the seventh book I ever wrote!

Princess Bronwen has a terrible secret—three years ago she made a wish at the forbidden Wishing Well to become the heir to the kingdom. That same night the true heir—her best friend and first love—vanished without a trace. Now Bronwen is engaged to his replacement and facing a loveless marriage just to one day become queen.

When Prince Rylan returns as mysteriously as he left, but with no memory of where he’s been, his reappearance changes everything. As Bronwen and Rylan fall in love again, the worst happens—Rylan disappears, but this time Bronwen uses the Wishing Well to chase after him into a mysterious underground land called the Cobworld.

As Bronwen comes face to face with the terrifying curse of the strange people holding Rylan captive, she learns his true purpose in the Cobworld and must act quickly or lose him forever. On her journey through a fractured land of eternal night, Bronwen will discover the truth about a murdered queen, a land bitterly divided, the dangerous Wishkeeper, and ultimately herself.

In the end, saving Rylan may require a sacrifice greater than Bronwen ever imagined. Not all wishes come true. Will this one?

Feedback for THE COBWORLD has been so great!!! It had almost 50 ARC readers on BookSirens, and now that people are getting a feel for my work (which is why I’m churning through my backlog—they say it takes 3 books before a writer’s career really takes off) I’m gaining a ton of followers and people eager to read whatever comes next! Yay!!!

Here’s are excerpts from some reviews pulled from BookSirens and Goodreads:

“I completely devoured this book. It was so quirky and enthralling with a touch of dark whimsy. I loved the total mystery of everything and that the story was a new concept for me. After reading many of the same plots and same paths, this was a refreshing change!”

“I went into this expecting a fairly standard royal-engagement setup, and instead got completely wrapped up in it. The emotional core a grief that hasn't been allowed to properly end, guilt that's been quietly rotting under the surface for years is handled with a lot of restraint. Nothing here felt melodramatic; it felt earned.

What struck me most was how well the author balances warmth and dread in the same scene. There's genuine sweetness in the childhood memories being shared, real charm in a slow-burn friendship forming between two people who never asked to be paired up, and then, underneath all of it, this constant hum of unease that something is deeply wrong. I found myself smiling one paragraph and holding my breath the next.

The prose has a lovely, unhurried quality even as it builds toward moments that landed hard for me; I actually gasped out loud once. That's not a common occurrence for me as a reader.”

“hi, i loved your book so much! everything about it was perfect and i love all the characters so much and i'm going to be thinking about this story for a long long time. i'm definitely reading everything you write in the future!!”

“I loved this mysterious, fairy-tale like story where its the Princess who has to go out and save her Prince, a close child-hood friend and love of her life. Good combination of fantastical, some horror, mystery and some political elements with a sweet dash of romance. Entertaining and thought-provoking.”

“The beginning was so good and hooked me right away with the magical well! Honestly the story was giving.. Alice and wonderland vibes with how they ended up another world (Cobworld) with so many different creatures.”

“this story is so precious🥹…the whole idea of the wishing well and the cobworld with its elves and ogres and banshees was so fairytale-esque… my favourite part about this book was how kind the characters were. i loved each and every one of them - they were all so real and imperfect and human. they made mistakes and sacrifices and loved each other so purely - not just the romance, but the familial relationship and friendships as well.”

“I highly recommend this book! It was very quick paced without feeling rushed and had such an interesting magic system. I loved the underlying themes of sacrifice and redemption. I think fans of The Cruel Prince series would love this book!”

THE COBWORLD was the first book I actually developed a playlist for. I have a complicated relationship with music, so it was a really cool experience to actually have songs that felt like or inspired moments in the story.

Unfortunately, some of the songs I listened to were pretty niche (I only had a free account on SoundCloud at the time) so I don’t have unified playlists. Availability for some of these songs are scattered, but you can see them all on my website.

On Spotify I put the songs in plot order, which is kind of fun. I will say that Carina Round’s three songs here were the main ones I listened to, along with Not in Love, and No Fate Awaits Me.

I’ll release some fun facts about THE COBWORLD as we get closer to publication date. Stay tuned for the final cover!
