Province considers new hospital for Sault in 2001: IN OTHER YEARS

Ministry of Health and Long-term Care is still considering Sault Area Hospital’s request to build a new $175-million facility as well as become a single, non-denominational board.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bodfors DuBois kept teaching Sunday school at St. Andrew’s United Church well past her 90th year. She died Aug. 19. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery today. “It was hard work that kept me here,” she often told friends and relatives. “I have done everything with my hands, and the day has never been long enough for all the things I have wanted to do. I would like to stay a little longer, if God will let me, for I still have work to do.”
Bad weather caused postponement of all matches scheduled for the evening of Aug. 21 in the St. Mary’s River Boat Club tennis tournament. Competitors scheduled for today include G. Godin, P. McColl, J. Koskinen, F. Donnelly, R. Lewis, P. Heaney and R. Kelly.
Nearly 40 events are scheduled for Sault Recreation Committee’s annual Summer Playground Field Day at North Street Field. Recreation supervisor is George Wallace.
