As an avid rabbit-hole-digger of anything interesting, whether diving deep into figuring out how to start cooking, but with the intention of it aligning to my own intuitive eating discoveries to artists of the past and how they weaved spirituality into their work, through research, many interesting things come about, including many segues into other worlds.
This is my list of curated findings that have lingered, dispersed and integrated into my everyday.
I’ve only discovered BLACKPINK’s music as of recent and do love each artist’s energy. Being a diverse group with many outlets of creative expression, it’s been interesting following their individual journeys.
One song that has been on repeat is Less than a Lover. There is a nostalgic feel to the melodies and harmonies, reminding me of lazy summers, summer flings and relaxing ocean breezes. I feel my entire body melting and feeling a warm embrace only felt during this moment in time.
ILIA / Soft Focus Finishing Powder
Lately, I find myself looking for ways to simplify my everyday while still adhering to an aesthetic that makes me feel beautiful. While on the hunt for a powder that goes on easily and illuminates the skin, I tried ILIA’s Soft Focus Finishing Powder and have not been able to put it down.
A simple dusting before heading out creates a blurred effect that looks gentle; beautiful. I pair it with some lip gloss some eyebrow gel for a natural, lived-in look.
UNISON COLOUR / Handmade Soft Pastels
Hands down my favorite pastel of all time, after hearing about the history of Unison Colour handmade soft pastels, not only does it speak to my human heart, but the texture and how it feels against paper and pastel — ooh, so good!
It’s soft, buttery, and the color selection just excites me like no other. There are other pastels I use in my work, but find myself reaching for these anytime I start a new piece.
I’m into collecting enamel pins.
I’ve lately been into free style hand embroidery on sweatshirts.
And patches. I love patches.
During a trip to Tokyo, at Tokyu Hands, I found the cutest patches and after looking into where they were from, it said Petra Boase. Since then I’ve purchased a few more and have added them onto my sweatshirt. Will share how it all turns out!
LEANNE SHAPTON / The Native Trees of Canada
After a first-time trip to Vancouver this past Spring, Canada has a completely new place in my heart. The trees, nature, people and beautiful waterfront just swept me away. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how much I love it there and hope to go back again soon.
I purchased The Native Trees of Canada by Leanne Shapton many years ago and continue to lovingly look through this beautiful art book when in need of inspiration or just a breath of fresh air.
Now to jump back into my rabbit hole!
