The Province of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 2026 as Sexual Violence Prevention Month - and we’ve got a toolkit to support your prevention efforts!
Sexual Violence Prevention Month is a collaborative approach that unites communities, government agencies, and advocacy groups in a shared mission to end sexual violence in Saskatchewan.
In Saskatchewan, we are facing some of our nation’s highest rates of sexual violence. We see, in what seems like weekly headlines, instances of people in our province being affected by violence: children being exploited online, vulnerable people being trafficked, and our community members being assaulted and abused. We can prevent these harms if we work together.
Each of us has the power to show leadership as an individual. An act of leadership is an act of empathy that creates the foundation of safety needed to prevent and address sexual violence.
Acts like teaching a child about boundaries and online safety or empathizing with a family member or coworker when they tell us someone harmed them. Some of us have the power to change company policies, others have the power to make legislation.
We all have an important role to play.
When individuals, communities, organizations and systems act together, it adds up to a Saskatchewan where survivors are cared for and believed, where our children are safe and protected, and where all of us are free from the threat, experience, or fear of sexual violence.
