Off.
I was sitting there, doing what I always do, thinking, connecting dots, trying to make sense of things that don’t quite sit right.
And lately… a lot isn’t sitting right.
Because now it’s not just one story.
It’s layers.
Havana Syndrome.
Congress saying something doesn’t add up.
A resignation from someone at the top of counterterrorism.
And surveillance laws quietly circling back into the conversation.
And I couldn’t help but wonder…
How many times do things have to feel off before we stop ignoring it?
Because let’s start with what’s actually coming out now.
For years, we were told Havana Syndrome was… unclear.
Maybe environmental.
Maybe stress.
Maybe nothing intentional.
That 2023 intelligence report basically told us:
“Foreign adversaries are unlikely responsible.”
Cool. Case closed, right?
Except now?
Members of Congress, the ones actually reviewing classified information, are saying the investigation may have been flawed, incomplete, and possibly even misleading.
They’re saying:
agencies may have withheld information
delayed documents
and produced assessments that didn’t meet proper standards
And even more?
There’s now discussion that it’s becoming “increasingly likely” a foreign adversary could be responsible for at least some of these incidents. 😒
Let that sit.
Because that’s not a small shift.
That’s the difference between:
“Nothing to worry about”
and
“Something may have actually happened here.”
And if that wasn’t enough…
There are reports that the U.S. has even obtained and tested devices potentially linked to these symptoms, including pulsed radiofrequency or microwave-type technology
So now I’m sitting here like…
Wait.
So we went from “unlikely” to “we might actually have evidence”?
And nobody thought we deserved clarity on that?
And then comes the part that really made me pause.
Joe Kent.

Not just some random name.
This is someone who:
worked closely with Tulsi Gabbard
was inside the intelligence structure
and then became head of counterterrorism
And now?
He resigns.
Over disagreement.
Over saying a war didn’t make sense.
Over saying there wasn’t an “imminent threat.”
And I can’t help but notice something…
When it comes to threats overseas, we move fast.
We act.
We decide.
But when it comes to Americans reporting neurological harm, unexplained symptoms, life-altering conditions? Right here in the U S of A.
We hesitate.
We downplay.
We say “unlikely.”
And I can’t help but wonder…
Why is there always so much certainty in one direction…
and so much doubt in the other?
And this is where it gets uncomfortable.
Because I’m not just reading this as headlines.
I’m reading this as a woman.
As a founder.
As someone who listens to real stories, not headlines, not theories, but lived experiences, from people going through these exact symptoms, it’s hard to ignore what’s happening. People who aren’t in government, not in intelligence, yet are being diagnosed with Havana Syndrome, and non-traumatic brain injuries… and still, no one is taking them seriously.
And yeah… I’m one of them. Hi. 👋🏽
So when I hear:
people were discouraged from reporting symptoms
concerns were dismissed
investigations may have been obstructed
That doesn’t feel abstract to me.
That feels familiar.
And then quietly… in the background…
FISA.
Section 702.
Back in the conversation again.
The same surveillance authority that allows collection of foreign intelligence…
but has also raised serious concerns about how Americans’ data gets caught in that net.
And I’m sitting here thinking…
We’re debating expanding surveillance…
while still not being fully transparent about harm that may have already happened?
Make that make sense.
And this is the part where my Bronx comes out.
Because I’m not going to sugarcoat it.
Something about all of this doesn’t sit right.
And maybe I don’t have every answer.
Maybe none of us do.
But I do know this:
When Congress starts questioning intelligence agencies…
When insiders start walking away…
When stories don’t line up…
You don’t ignore that.
You lean in.
You ask questions.
You get louder.
Because the truth is…
Silence doesn’t protect us.
Awareness does.
Action does.
And right now?
We’re not as coordinated as we should be.
Not when it comes to things that actually matter.
And I can’t help but wonder…
If we don’t start paying attention now…
When will we?

It’s about making sure we’re not the last ones to know what’s happening around us.
