Pacific Ocean in Malibu, California

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published

She is standing by the shore,
Naked toes tucked neatly into the solar softened sand,
Ridding the aches that form her foundation.
The breeze sweeps across her face as her hair teases and taunts,
Tangling itself and then unwinding, tickling her nose.
A delicate reminder that she is here, right now.
A relief, a comfort.
The vastness of the ocean, the settling of the sea foam hints at a whole world beneath.
One unknown, mysterious, unexplored.
A place wholly different than this one.
The waves come closer, tempting to pull her under, but then retreat.
A boundary between two worlds.
The darkness below, the warmth above,
The feeling that these worlds can never exist as one.
She closes her eyes, takes in the moment.
The squawks of gulls above and the cries of dolphins below.
The sand lightly hits her legs, tiny granules sweeping across her skin,
The tingle a familiar feeling.
A reminder that she is here.
A relief, a comfort.
