What is your purpose? What is the difference your life is meant to make in the world?

Big questions, and this week’s story from the Dreamworks Project explores them with remarkable honesty.

This woman is already doing important work, but she knows her calling is asking for a deeper expression of itself. She is searching for her life’s work - something that is tangible enough to touch, and significant enough to devote her lifetime to.

And she’s not sure what it is.

Yet.

Maybe you are the same. I know I am, especially in recent weeks when I have felt the urge, or calling to do something more. And I don’t know what that is. I’m trying to be patient and be present with the uncertainty.

For some of us, purpose might only be uncovered through action, revealing itself with each fresh step we take. It’s a calling that asks us to keep showing up - for ourselves and the world, long before we can clearly see where we’re headed.

Perhaps this search is vital, as the journey itself shapes us into the person who can say a full yes to our purpose when it is finally revealed.

If this is your experience too, may we each find the courage to simply to keep walking towards whatever awakens that sense of aliveness within us. In that we we may live into our dreams and our purpose, one step at a time.

This week I’m offering these questions to you for reflection:

💡 What kind of work leaves you feeling most connected to the people, places or causes you care about?

💡 Who are the people you are waiting to find, and equally importantly, what kind of person are you becoming so that they can recognise you when your paths eventually cross?

Make yourself a brew, sit down for a few minutes, and enjoy reading the story of this woman’s dream. The following words are all her own, from an interview held in June 2026.

With love, Sarah xox

I dream of creating a project that has a real, tangible, and positive impact on the planet. But I don’t know what that is yet. I’m still searching for it.

Almost all of my work has been focused on finding amazing people around the world and amplifying their voices through interviews. It’s always been important to me. I’d meet these people, and I just kept thinking, “Why am I the only one hearing your story?”

That was the big inspiration for the eventual launch of my website, the podcast, and everything it’s grown into since then. But I feel torn as I do these interviews because I realise I don’t have a similar driving purpose.

I’m still trying to figure out what is the project that I’m going to spend the next 10-20 years of my life working towards?

What is it that I want to dedicate my life to that’s real? Something that’s really putting my hands in the dirt, my boots on the ground. Where it’s no longer just me meeting these amazing people and showcasing their story, but finally being able to know what my own story is.

Until this past year, everything I’ve done has been in the digital space. But a short while ago, I took my first group of people down to Patagonia. That was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

I truly believe in the power of conservation tours when they’re done right, and it was amazing to see the impact that it made on the people in the group. That is what really blew me away, and that was the closest thing that I’ve done that was real, tangible and physical.

The digital realm is important in today’s society, but it can never replace or reach the same level of connection as you being on the ground and touching the earth, especially when you physically experience an environment going from degraded to restored.

Like seeing a puma– a species that might be struggling to co-exist with humans and that probably would have been killed– to seeing her survive and have cubs of her own, and then seeing her having a healthy forest where she can raise her young.

That is so real and so tangible. I’m really missing that part in my life.

I just got done producing the biggest series of my life, and already it’s old news. Something that took eight plus months of my life is already here and gone.

It’s exhausting and it’s not enough for me. It’s not enough anymore.

It was when I published my first big series, which was nominated for a big award, that I realised a lot of people just saw me as a podcaster. The nomination blew me away and really humbled me.

When I was pitching the Patagonia series to different outlets, people simply weren’t seeing the bigger story that was being talked about - this incredible 1,700 mile-long wildlife conservation corridor that’s been established in Chile. It’s one of the most inspiring stories on the planet. I went there and covered it, and it became this big series. But people could only see me as a podcaster - and anyone can do a podcast.

It made me appreciate I don’t have that singular “thing”. The reason I’m interviewing these people is because they’re experts in X, Y, or Z, and I don’t have that.

Why would somebody want to come and interview me for my work? Why would somebody want to talk to me? What’s my story?

That’s what is pushing me to find that purpose, my thing. What is it that I’m meant to do with my life other than just interviewing other people?

Once I know what I’m meant to do, I’ll be blinders on, 100% all in. I would be able to focus and pour all of my effort into that one thing. I wouldn’t be going down this curvy life path, and wondering do I go this way or do I go that way?

I’m a big believer in the rewilding movement. I absolutely love it. It takes all the good things of conservation, restoration and social impact, and packages it in something new and holistic.

I feel like that is the direction I need to be going in. My big disconnect with that, though, is that I’m insanely respectful of people and communities. I never want to come to any of these places that need help and protection as this white American woman who wants to fix things. I hate white saviourism.

I’m having some internal conflict with that. What exactly is my role? How can I do the best to support rewilding? So far for me, the answer has been leveraging media and telling other people about these projects. But I need to feel a realness to my work; I need to hug the tree, I need to touch the soil.

I want to work in true partnership with whoever invites me in. To use my knowledge, my expertise, my connections, as well as theirs, to essentially co-create whatever project we are working on.

I think my thing might even be what’s happening in Patagonia and Chile. I love that area so much and I already have a collaborator down there. I’m just so cognisant of not being the white woman that’s coming in and saying that this is my project and this is what you need to do.

I can’t stop searching for my “thing”. There’s no stopping. There’s some sort of drive in me that just can’t let this go.

I’ve tried multiple times, and every time I do, the universe will throw an amazing opportunity my way, and I’m just like, “Shit. Okay, I hear you, I hear you. Message has been received, I won’t stop.”

I’ve started to trust my intuition and my guts a lot more. That’s something we’re not taught how to do.

Now that I’ve reached my mid-30s and have been through a lot of personal things, I’ve learned that when I have a sign, simply to follow it, and continue following to discover where it’s going to go.

I’m trying to work this through and to be receptive to whenever that thing, my purpose, shows up. I know that these things can seemingly appear out of nowhere, for no reason.

I want to continue to follow my intuition, and trust that it will take me where I need to go. I used to have a lot of fear, but I’ve just let it go. I know that I’m here for a reason, I’m here for a purpose, and I will find it.

I’ve just got to be patient, and I’m a very impatient person. I’m tired of doing this alone.

I keep putting seeds out to as many people as I can. I’m trying to find those people who are meant to be in my life, to surround myself with the people who will be part of doing whatever my thing is.

It’s hard to do because it takes a while to find the right people. People who have the ambition to make a difference, and with whom it just feels right to hop on the bus together. That takes a while.

I’ve met a few people who are meant to be on the bus with me. People I know I’m meant to do this journey with. But there are still some critical people I haven’t met yet.

I don’t know when they’re going to show up in my life. But I know they’re out there.

I’m not going to stop.
