Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s not God. In fact, if it doesn’t feel hard, it’s probably not from God. Nearly every story of someone who partnered with God to fulfill His plan on Earth starts from a place of difficulty before the good is revealed. Think of Moses, Joseph, Abraham, Noah, Gideon, Ruth, Samuel, and Elizabeth, to name a few.
I don’t believe that everything with God requires us to buy an annual pass for the struggle bus. I’ve experienced God’s love offering me seasons of rest, joy, fulfillment, and contentment. I’ve also seen myself begin to worship those seasons or lose sight of God in the midst of them.
I’m currently in a season of growth. I feel God revealing areas where I need to develop so I can be anchored in the deep He’s calling me to. I’m fascinated by Jesus’ exchange with Peter before His ascension. Jesus asks Peter to let go of the comfort of doing what he knows well and step into a purpose that leads to, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Peter was willing to betray good for God. Are you?
