So, in lieu of my own WIPs this week, I’ve gathered two of Substack’s finest crafters to share what crafts they’re working on while I’m away. My own WIPs will be back soon, but for now enjoy a peek into the genius creative minds of Sarah Hardt and Isabel Watkins!
As of writing I’m in the midst of making sunscreen keychains for my bachelorette weekend. I love to thrift inexpensive beaded necklaces to mine for future projects—these keychains were made with beads from both the Oregon coast and my grandmother’s costume jewelry collection, so they feel extra special. My Cricut weeder is coming in clutch for poking holes in the mini sunscreens.
I started this thick wool cable knit at the very beginning of spring knowing that come winter, I would be so grateful to not be feverishly knitting the thing I desperately needed. I’m taking my sweet time with this sweater for a few reasons:
I rebuke the culture of quick knits
It’s become too heavy to bring with me on commutes, trips, evenings in the park; I can only work on it at home
There are three different types of cables to keep track of, and I’m a perfectionist…
All I have left here is the final ribbed cuff and neckline (folded crew). The yarn I’m using is Berrocco Vintage in Charcoal and the pattern is the Tyra sweater by Ingrid Dyb - genius if you ask me.
