For a long time, I thought a restful bedroom was mostly about appearance.
Like many people, I was drawn to the images we all see in magazines and online — beautifully layered bedding, perfectly styled bedside tables, soft colours, and just the right amount of texture. Those rooms always looked peaceful, and I assumed that if a bedroom looked calm enough, it would naturally feel restful too.
Over time, I realized those aren’t always the same thing.
I’ve slept in homes all over the world while filming, renovating, travelling, and living between Canada, Florida, and the Bahamas. Some bedrooms were simple, others incredibly luxurious, but the quality of my sleep rarely depended on how expensive the room was or how beautifully it had been decorated.
What made the difference was something much quieter.
It was how the room worked with my body.
