It’s 12:10 a.m.
I’ve been sitting by my window, watching the moon for almost an hour. Every few minutes, a cloud drifts in front of it, covering it completely, and then just as quietly, it moves on.
I don’t know why it makes me so emotional.
I tried taking a picture because I wanted to show you exactly what I was seeing. It doesn’t do it justice. The camera couldn’t catch the way the light spilled around the edges of the clouds or the faint rainbow halo that appeared for a moment before disappearing again.
It was breathtaking.
I’ve been feeling stagnant lately. Like life has been standing still while I’ve been waiting for something to change. Watching the moon tonight reminded me that maybe stillness isn’t the same thing as being stuck.
The moon never moved from where it was.
The clouds did.
They came. They covered it. They passed. And the moon kept shining anyway.
Maybe that’s why I wanted to cry.
Sometimes I forget that I’ve survived every season that convinced me I wouldn’t. I’ve had moments where I thought I’d never feel inspired again, never feel hopeful again, never recognize myself again.
But somehow, every single time, I found my light again.
Maybe that’s what I was looking at tonight.
Not just the moon, but a reminder.
That there will always be clouds.
Some will stay longer than others. Some will make you question whether the light is still there at all. But the light doesn’t disappear just because something passes in front of it.
It waits.
It shines anyway.
Earlier today I caught myself blaming everything on Mercury retrograde, laughing at how chaotic life has felt lately. But sitting here tonight, none of that seemed to matter.
All I could think was how beautiful it is that something can remain exactly where it is while everything around it changes.
Maybe I’m romanticizing my life.
Or maybe this is exactly what living is supposed to feel like finding quiet lessons in ordinary moments.
Tonight, the moon reminded me that the clouds are temporary.
And if the moon can keep shining through them, maybe I can too.
Happy new month
It’s a sign
