Last week, I reviewed Naughty Bits #6, which contained a flashback Bitchy Bitch story taking it back to her teen days during the 60s. This installment is also a flashback but takes place shortly after Midge’s college days.
Before we get to that, however, the book opens with “That ‘Boy-Girl’ Thing” and “Wing An’ a Prayer.” The former is a one-pager wittily juxtaposing a man’s and a woman’s body self-consciousness. Meanwhile, the latter comic is a metatextual interplay between author Roberta Gregory’s characters, who exist as dysfunctional roommates and bickering creative muses. It’s supposed to be playful fun, and it is to a degree, but I think Gregory drags it out a page or two too long to be objective (had to use all the to’s). At least she’s not stroking her ego about it.
