[What’s 212, Sam?]

Ideas to make your upcoming 2.12 special—

Got a wonderful spouse, partner, or significant other who enjoys surprises? Maybe you heat things up and get a jump on the ordinary. Make it your 2026 love day over the crowded Saturday it’ll be for so many—a Thursday of extra attention for that special person. Whatever they love, you give.

Of course, making every day a love day for that special person is a good long-haul approach. (More below.) And, while the origins of Valentine’s Day are cloudy (beyond the commercial push), some of the nasty bits might make you happy about the change to 2.12. (See below—or maybe don’t.)

No romantic interest at the moment? Who and/or what can you give some 212 love? (Married a while? Romantic interest words throw you off? Maybe it’s time to rethink/do that.)

Got a personal project you’ve wanted kick off or give some deeper attention to? Take the day off and dig into that thing.

Lead a team?

Have you introduced the 212 idea to them? If not, maybe do it over a nice lunch and give them a copy of the updated and expanded paperback (one hour to read, forever better).

Could you give everyone off in the afternoon beginning at 2:12? Let it roll into Friday and a 3-day weekend?1 Are there 212 awards you could give for effort/results in January? A $212 bonus/cash/gift card?2

Part of a team?

Plant some future good. Start early, stay late? Take someone/a couple of people to lunch? A little extra customer love in some way?

Kids, parents, siblings, friends—who’d love a little more of your attention? Who’d enjoy being acknowledged, heard, or helped? Could you connect with a few people, and then in the spirit of 212—1 extra person?

Attention is everything.

Might seem counterintuitive to give people extra personal time on 2.12, but that’s the reason it might be a fitting/special thing to do as a leader.
