Hi July! I hope everyone is staying cool out there wherever you might be at the moment. We’ve been doing all the summer things around home lately, which I’ve been feeling grateful for… kids are in camp and I’ve been catching up on life. Also getting the best sleep which I didn’t realize how badly I needed.

I dove into some summer outfit ideas after re-organizing/editing my closet for the warmer months ahead—Santa Barbara summer starts now, b-bye gloom! Hope this sparks some inspiration.

Tees and Sarongs…

The sarong/pareo is one of my favorite Summer things to have because you can style one so many different ways—long, short, wrapped, tied or worn as a layer over your shoulders. An ideal thing to travel with! I also will use mine to through over my shoulders while beach/poolside if I’m not in shade and want to protect my shoulders.

But mostly, day to day plan on styling it this way… a simple tee, with a one-piece suit, sandals and a great bag—an oversized raffia bag or something playful in print or texture like this for a daytime lunch. Sarongs to take note of… I love this colorthis print and this one. This linen tee is my favorite because it’s slightly sheer, has an almost vintage like look and boxy fit. Shell jewelry on top like this necklace or this one… also a perfect pop of color moment—love this wrap necklace!

No fuss jeans and oversized button-down…

The “I don’t want to think too hard, summer errands look” that I reach for many times. If it’s a really hot day I swap out the jeans for track shorts or these linen shorts. The secret sauce to this is picking the right white button-down, the more oversized the better… the Alex Mill Jo shirt in linen is one of my personal favorites, J.Crew makes a great one, love the shape of this Elce swim shirt… and styling the shirt in your own way—rolling up the sleeves to your elbows or above or leaving them down and unbuttoned. The other factor is the jeans. A cool vintage Levi’s wash with a slightly slouchy fit… something like these or these if vintage isn’t your lane.

Undone hair is the beauty note on this look! I’ve been loving the Roz texture wave mist the day after a wash… my hero product of the summer!

The Summer Slip Dress…

When the temperatures heat up, I sometimes struggle how to wear a dress without it feeling too precious and more everyday. Especially if you’re traveling or walking around a city. I fell hard for the Miu Miu sneakers and got two pairs last Fall and plan on styling them with silky dresses more… Jamie Haller does a cool retro sneaker as well.

For slip dresses like this I do love a jumble of longer necklaces, mixed metals, disc charms and cool chains… Loren Stewart does some of my favorite chains and silver pieces (code Samantha15) as well as Ariel Gordon (code Samanthaw10).

Cool crochet bags like this one and this one with silky/lace dresses… topped off with cat eye sunglasses (also love this pair). I’ve found my perfect nude lip recipe… Westman Atelier lip pencil in Cou Cou and U Beauty Lip Compound in Tulle.
